I wanted this post to capture the essence of how vastly different parts of Virginia can be. While I live on the coastal side of Virginia, just taking a drive a little west displays a whole other world with mountainous views and farmland.
I love living in Virginia because it truly is a beautiful state and there is so much diversity in different areas that you can travel to and enjoy.
Our first road trip together, Gary and I went to the Shenandoah Valley to visit his mom. We drove up Mother’s Day weekend of 2017 and spent time relaxing and exploring some wonderful places.
One of the first places we went, I will never forget, was a lavender farm.
The picture above shows just how quaint and beautiful it was out there and you’d never know it was a rainy day.
The picture above is of Gary and I inside the little gazebo on the lavender farm.
We also spent a day at Luray Caverns which was another spectacular place that I’d never been to and was totally amazed by it. The pictures below show you just a glimpse of what it looked like being inside the caverns. It was truly magnificent!
Before we left that weekend, we took Skyline Drive through the mountains to enjoy the spectacular views. We managed to capture some pretty good pictures with wonderful backdrops. The picture below is at one of the overlooks.
We truly enjoyed our first trip together and we brought back wonderful memories captured in these photos.
I’d never been there before but I’d definitely visit again. It’s a lovely place to unwind, relax and being in the mountains you just might have no choice to be without your mobile devices. But that’s ok…that’s God’s way of getting you out to enjoy His handiwork.
I love the pictures of the lavender farm and the way your travel was described. I think you and Gary make a very cute couple.
